Universal's Islands of Adventure is a theme park with rides for all ages, featuring popular franchises from Universal and other companies. The park is divided into eight sections catering to both kids and teens. Among the beloved attractions are Harry Potter, Marvel superheroes, Dr. Seuss's fantasy world, Jurassic Park, and more. How to Get to Universal's Islands of Adventure?
- The Islands of Adventure amusement park is located just south of Universal Studios and west of CityWalk, the downtown area of Universal Resort.
- It is located right to the west of the intersection of Florida's Turnpike and the I-4 highway.
- The park is situated halfway between downtown Orlando and the huge Disney World resort to the south.
- The entire resort features a transportation system including a rail line (the Harry Potter train) connecting both theme parks and also linking the hotels, the resorts, and the water park to the south.
- The size of the resort doesn't compare to Disney World's. You can drive between parks within a few minutes or even walk.

What is Universal's Islands of Adventure amusement park?
Islands of Adventure Park is an extension of Universal Studios Park, owned by NBCUniversal. The island is designed to continue the competition between Universal's theme park and Disneyland's theme parks. Like its older sibling located to the north, Islands of Adventure Park is filled with various amusement rides based on Universal's characters and movies.

The park opened in 1999 along with CityWalk, the downtown area of Universal Florida Resort. With their opening, the Universal complex became a serious competitor to Disney World for the tens of millions of tourists who visit Orlando each year.
The park is made up of eight “islands” built around a multi-armed lake that separates them. The park's islands from the entrance (Port of Entry) counterclockwise:

Port of Entry
The entrance to the Islands of Adventure is one side the technical area of the park including Universal's guest relations and on the other side an urban section (just scenery, of course) with restaurants, souvenir shops, and places to relax. Right at the park entrance gate, next to the ticket booths, lies perhaps the symbol of the park – Pharos Lighthouse. The tall lighthouse serves as the entrance's lighting at night (technically illuminating visitors' exit from the park).
Seuss Landing
The fantastical world of Dr. Seuss is one of the most magical places in Orlando. Seuss Landing (cleverly named, of course, as befitting the famous children's author from Springfield, Massachusetts) is the spot for family fun with the kids at Universal Resort. It's decked out in settings from Dr. Seuss's books and movies, with a heavy emphasis on twists and turns to ensure there isn't a single straight line in sight. Amid the many twists, you'll find plenty of rides perfect for younger children.

The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride – An outdoor monorail car journey through the books and movies of Dr. Seuss, featuring all the author's beloved characters.

Caro-Seuss-el – A carousel where, instead of horses, you ride on all of Dr. Seuss's creatures.
1 Fish, 2 Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish – A carousel ride where you can ride Dr. Seuss's fish and control the flying height.

The Lost Continent
The Lost Continent used to be one of the most popular islands in the park, but due to changes, much of it was incorporated into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and its main attraction, Poseidon's Fury, has ceased operations. In the Lost Continent, you'll find Mythos restaurant, one of the park's flagship dining spots, rightly considered one of the best theme park restaurants in the entire USA.
Currently, The Lost Continent is divided into two sections:
- Sindbad's Bazaar – A shopping and dining area designed like a Middle Eastern market.
- The Grecian Atlantis Lost City – A setting of the city of Atlantis and the classical Greek world. At the heart of this lost city is the Mystic Fountain, an interactive fountain that talks to visitors and plays music.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
The latest and most popular addition of the theme park, the Wizarding World rides on the phenomenal success of the Harry Potter book and movie series by British author J.K. Rowling. It's the busiest island in the theme park, home to some of the most popular rides and especially, stunning scenery based on the Harry Potter films. The area also includes a restaurant serving British food and, of course, a pub, all with a rustic English touch (as envisioned by the American designers).

Jurassic Park
Although the theme has aged a bit, Jurassic Park remains one of the most popular areas in the park. This is the place to encounter dinosaurs in a setting that mimics Jurassic Park, based on the super popular film franchise by Steven Spielberg.

Jurassic Park River Adventure – A boat journey full of splashes on a route that recreates the scenery of Jurassic Park
VelociCoaster – A very fast roller coaster that reaches up to 110 km/h

Camp Jurassic – A large playground filled with attractions for young children around a big Banyan tree that recreates the original film's forests
Jurassic Park Discovery Center – A large center combining educational activities and games all related to the world of dinosaurs and paleontology
Skull Island
The entire Skull Island section is centered around the main attraction – Skull Island: Reign of Kong. It is one of the park's major and newer attractions. The section and attraction opened in 2016. The attraction features a journey through a large indoor area with automated vehicle rides, showcasing a set from the King Kong movie in a modern interpretation.
Toon Lagoon
Toon Lagoon is a popular spot for kids and the whole family. The lagoon boasts awesome wet rides featuring river journeys on inner tubes or log boats, inspired by some of Universal Studios' beloved cartoon characters (definitely not Mickey and Donald, but even Popeye is pretty cool).

Marvel Super Hero Island
The Marvel Super Hero brand is one of the most popular and crowded spots at Universal's park. It's amusing that Marvel is now owned by Disney, huge competitors. Nonetheless, Universal still gets to use those iconic characters. The entire area is decked out with comic book and superhero-themed decor, including dining areas and souvenir shops.
